Published Thu, 21 Nov 2024 23:14:49 GMT
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie: An approaching weather system will bring a bit of wintry mix, with a change to rain for many by late morning as temperatures warm to the upper 30's.In the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks, however, cooler temperatures mean that snow or sleet may hold on into the early afternoon. That will lead to slightly higher (but still low-end) totals. It will be blustery both as this system impacts us today and immediately in its wake tomorrow. Expect the strongest gusts in the Adirondacks and Greens, where a Wind Advisory is in effect through Sunday - a couple branches may come down.We clear out as the day goes on Sunday - a high of 50 looks nice on the surface, but with the wind its still a brisk feel out there. Monday looks great, with less wind and lots of sun.A few showery periods are possible Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday looks dry but seasonably cool. More clouds for Friday.Albany Academy Cadets ready to chase a championship

A decade ago, a small group of volunteers saw their dream realized after five years of working to have a memorial to San Jose’s Vietnam War dead placed downtown. And on March 30, the 10th anniversary of that memorial will be commemorated with a Remembrance Ceremony at the Guadalupe River Park’s Arena Green. The 13-foot-long black granite monument has etched on its surface the names of 142 men who lost their lives in military service during the conflict from 1961 to 1975. And after three years of silence because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 4:30 p.m. ceremony will continue the tradition of having each name read aloud. The Sons of San Jose board of directors poses in front of the downtown monument on Thursday, March 23, 2023. A peaceful mountain lion took shelter from the storm earlier this week in a Los Gatos backyard before wildlife officials released it back into its habitat Wednesday morning. The nearly 100-pound cat was spotted sleeping on a fence between Roberts and Blossom Hill roads in Los Gatos Tuesday by residents who called Los Gatos police. After determining it wasn’t a public safety issue, officers contacted the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.“Initially we wanted to give it a shot to leave on its own,” said DFW spokesperson Ken Paglia. “Our preferred option is for a wild animal, like a mountain lion, to leave on its own and go back to its habitat on its own. That’s the least invasive means.”By Wednesday morning the cat was still in the backyard, and wildlife officials used a dart to tranquilize it and transport it back to its habitat for release. The Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department contacted local schools Tuesday after the mountain lion was spotted on the fence, which bord...What It Means for Trump's Campaign to Start In Waco
Published Thu, 21 Nov 2024 23:14:49 GMT
Every revolutionary movement needs martyrs. The modern U.S. militant right has long had its own, and the most important among them have been dead for three decades: the 70-plus men, women, and children killed in the spring of 1993 at the conclusion of a 51-day government siege at a compound outside the Central Texas city of Waco. They were members of an armed Christian sect, unfamiliar and isolated, and for many Americans, Waco was another footnote in the country’s long history of violence. In the worldview of right-wing militancy, however, Waco is foundational — a gory testament to the dangers of gun control and the deadly power of federal authorities. Waco fueled the rise of the militia movement in the 1990s and inspired the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995; it continues to influence contemporary militant thinking. All of this should be borne in mind when Donald Trump holds the first official rally of his 2024 presidential campaign in Waco on Saturday. In the run-up to the rally, Tru...Latest news
